Opened in 2008, our £36 million Hatchcroft Building supports science research and teaching at 探花社区.

Biomedical science students have access to specialist equipment, while the BabyLab allows psychology researchers to conduct developmental research.

The building also contains advanced computing laboratories. These support research into communication technologies, including podcasting, interactive mobile devices, and social networking.

Students studying cardiac science, audiology, or neurophysiology learn in our centre of excellence in the West Stand at StoneX Stadium.

The facilities recreate professional clinical settings and include:

  • a cardiology ward with mannequins for practising ultrasound imaging, electrocardiograms, and electroencephalograms
  • a dedicated neurophysiology space
  • a neuroscience ward with a practical suite
  • a medical physiology laboratory for examining the effects of physical stressors on the body.

You will develop practical skills using systems found in clinical environments, helping you prepare for professional practice after graduation.

Our mass spectrometry and analytical facilities are available to students and researchers in biomedical sciences, biology, and environmental sciences.

Specialist equipment supports research into:

  • investigative and diagnostic oncology
  • urban pollution control
  • biophysics and bioengineering
  • molecular biology
  • reproductive biology.

Our mechatronics facility was developed with Festo Didactic. It provides access to current automation and manufacturing technology.
